October Goals Recap

Gigas Gonad Methylation:

• Examined genes with enriched GOterms, identified gene functions, and potential GOterm nesting and DML direction
• Updated methods and results!
• Started reworking discussion with gene functions and direct comparisons to other studies, but have not finished yet

Hawaii Gigas Methylation:

• Cleaned up any remaining comments and sent a draft to Maria and Rajan. And that’s about it.

Coral Transcriptomics:

• Reviewed Maggie’s extraction protocol and previous work and started drafting hypotheses to test

Other:

• Completed onboarding!
• Determined goals and potential projects for postdoc
• Drafted NSF PRFB
• Identified additional papers for ocean acidification and reproduction review
• Completed review for Scientific Data!

November goals

Gigas Gonad Methylation:

• Finish discussion
• Rework introduction
• Send for revisions!

Hawaii Gigas Methylation:

• Review DSS script and determine if I should go back to methylKit for better interpretation
• Extract SNPs with EpiDiverse and create a relatedness matrix
• Look at methylation islands and non-methylated regions
• Examine overlaps between DML and other epigenomic datasets from Sascha

Virginica Gonad Methylation:

• Identify method for testing sex and treatment simultaneously to identify DML
• Extract SNPs with BSnper and EpiDiverse
• Identify methods for linking WGBS and RNA-Seq data
• Identify lncRNA and miRNAs in dataset
• Start drafting methods

Coral Transcriptomics:

• Budget for planned extractions with multiple price options
• Timeline for performing coral extractions
• Start examining metatranscriptomics methods

NSF PRFB:

• Identify letter writers
• Identify an external collaborator
• Get feedback from Carolyn and external collaborator

Other:

• Finish identifying new papers for ocean acidification and reproduction review
• Start integrating new papers into main text and supplemental material
• Identify datasets in hand that I could start analyzing
• Complete Molecular Ecology review
